Prairie Fire Bar & Cafe in Clive, Alberta, offers a straightforward, welcoming spot where small town comes through in every detail—from the friendly greetings behind the bar to the home-style comfort of the food. This combined café and bar draws in a mix of locals looking for familiar, hearty meals and travelers passing through who appreciate a well-made burger or a generous beef dip after a day on the road.

The atmosphere leans into rustic simplicity with touches that feel like a community gathering place rather than a polished chain. Seating inside is casual and unpretentious, where you can settle in for a quick takeout meal or a relaxed sit-down with friends over a cold drink. The bar setting also means in the evenings it’s a quiet spot to catch up over poutine or a wrap and unwind with local conversation.

The menu celebrates classic Canadian comfort food with some standout spins, especially if you’re drawn to rich, filling plates. Fries smothered in cheese curds and gravy come in a variety of styles—from the traditional OG poutine to versions jazzed up with smoked brisket or spicy buffalo chicken. Handheld options like the triple decker Rustler’s Club or the Prairie Pull sandwich combine familiar deli flavors with homemade touches like focaccia bread or apple butter BBQ aioli. A Trailblazer Beef Dip also holds its place as a local favorite, perfect for dipping into the thick jus.

Many appreciate the quality of the fries, which feel hand-cut and fresh rather than frozen, a small detail that hints at the kitchen’s care. The brisket is smoky and tender, adding a slightly elevated flair to the poutine offerings. Even with its broad appeal, the menu avoids complexity and sticks to what works for this rural setting.

Prairie Fire’s drink selection covers basics well, offering straightforward soft drinks and a selection of coffees and teas that suit casual daytime stops. It’s the kind of place where locals might pop in mid-morning or lunch, and visitors can count on solid hot chocolate or a reliable cappuccino with their meal.

Overall, this cafe/bar works best for those who value genuine small-town hospitality and straightforward, satisfying food without fuss. It’s a spot that caters to everyday cravings, family lunches, and laid-back evenings with friends, nestled into the quiet rhythm of Clive’s main street. Drop in anytime you want a hearty meal with familiar tastes and a comfortable, down-to-earth ambiance.

Ordered for the first time, the food was superb. Had a Prairie Farmer burger with onion rings and the Stockyard Smoker with fries. Both were excellent. The brisket was delicious, the fries were so good I think they were home made and the onion rings were as good as they get. We’ll be back.

I have done hundreds and hundreds of reviews. The amazement of little village food experiences that are unknown to most. This cafe is 5 star and above for the service and food you recieve. We tried multiple dishes and they were all great. The Burgers are Great with side of fries that are scratch made. Must stop location

What a perfect place to get family and extended family together from all around from Red Deer and beyond to past Regina and everyone in between. Precious reunion of the 4 brothers out of 6 after years without seeing each other! Memories that they all hold dear shared again right here back in their own home town at the old Clive Hotel and Bar, now renovated and updated but holding the original historical features. The restaurant we ate at was incredible! They were also able to accommodate a large number of us all with ease.

Fabulous experience at Prairie Fire this past weekend. Our waitress was personable and helpful, our food was hot and delicious, what else could you want? For two days I’ve been craving their Donair Spring rolls, sooooo good! Salads were fresh and delicious, and OMG the poutine was epic!!! Thank you for accommodating our group of 8!

Happened to stumble upon the Prairie Fire while we were out for drive and stopped in for lunch. What a fortune accident for us, the food and service were excellent. Can't beat the small town charm. Probably one of the best donairs and burgers we've had.
